How to Hide or Show Recycle Bin Icon on Windows Desktop?

If you have don’t use the Recycle Bin feature in Windows, or have disabled it on your partitions, then there is no point in keeping its icon on the Desktop.

There can be another scenario when you are happy with Recycle Bin but suddenly it disappears from your Desktop. Most of the times, Viruses are responsible for such annoyances. But you can easily enable the Recycle Bin icon again.

Hide or Show Recycle Bin Icon on Windows Desktop

Step 1: Right-click on the Desktop, and then click on the Personalize option in the Context Menu. This will open the Personalization window.

Step 2: In the Personalization window, click on the Themes side tab.

Step 3: Under Themes, navigate to the Related Settings section, and then click on the Desktop icon settings link.

Step 4: The Desktop Icon Settings window lets you enable or disable icons for five Windows System Tools. There are:

  1. Computer
  2. User’s Files
  3. Network
  4. Recycle Bin
  5. Control Panel

If the Recycle Bin icon is currently enabled on your Desktop, and you want to disable it then untick the Recycle Bin checkbox.

If the Recycle Bin icon is currently disabled, and you want to enable its icon on your Desktop then tick the Recycle Bin checkbox.

Step 5: After making your selection, click on the Apply button to apply the changes, and then OK to close the window.
